American Travel Effected By
Potential Terrorist Attacks
U.S.- There is a travel alert by the U.S. Department of State Bureau of Consular Affairs for any travel by Americans, especially in middle-east countries.
Alert Site Quote: "The Department of State alerts U.S. citizens to the continued potential for terrorist attacks, particularly in the Middle East and North Africa, and possibly occurring in or emanating from the Arabian Peninsula. Current information suggests that alQaida and affiliated organizations continue to plan terrorist attacks both in the region and beyond, and that they may focus efforts to conduct attacks in the period between now and the end of August. This Travel Alert expires on August 31, 2013." Site End-quote.
On another page of that same site, they listed a high security threat level Travel Warning in Yemen today. Go here to see the current list of travel warnings. This is an extensive warning list.
What does this mean for International Business in regards to U.S. citizens? If you have business in any of these countries on the list, you should look for a resident non U.S. citizen to handle it, preferably someone that already works for your company and resides in that country where you need to conduct business. Otherwise, it looks like there is a lot of things that are going to be on hold for a while.
A Special Thank You to USA.gov Blog
