When Stress > Sleep

HEALTH NEWS

Stress Monster

You lay down, get yourself all tucked in for the evening, but that is all you do; all tucked in and you just lay there. You find yourself turning on the television for the background noise to maybe help. You keep re-positioning yourself, thinking, "This will be the final readjustment". Sleep doesn't come easy to some of us due to life's daily stresses. There are things we can do to help ourselves; but don't get it twisted, the ole' Stress Monster always seems to sometimes creep through.

Now we don't have to let the Stress Monster be so dominating. We can fight to kick his behind to relieve us a little bit. At least for a short while.

We have to first set the stage. So let's explore some of those and you decide what works best for you.

  • If you are reading this, you probably have access to a computer. Make use of the tools you have available to you. I like to sometimes go to YouTube and find some Native American music or nature sound videos to give a soothing sound to feed the soul.
  • You could play some soothing music. Personally, listening to Classical/Jazz is soothing. Listening to something I really enjoy, makes me sing with the lyrics or get some sort of body bebop going on, causing the Stress Monster to enter.
  • Sometimes it may be a person's voice that soothes you. With permission, you could possibly record them talking to you, maybe telling a life story, and play it. The repeat button works great on this, especially on cell phones or mp3 players.
  • Maybe it is a cuddle factor. On this note, you should talk to me. I have a couple of designed pillows that may help with this issue.
  • Some may just need to have no noise at all and complete darkness. Invest in some sleep blinders and possibly some soft ear mitts to ease outside noises.
  • A nice soothing bath with oils or a warm shower may work for some.
  • How about that soothing warm milk or hot herbal sleepy time tea with crackers.
Now these are just a few ideas to keep the Stress Monster away. Now practice, practice, practice and let me know the outcome.

I am now off to the warm shower and setting my calming stage. Sleep well and have a refreshing day. Nite, Nite. ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz....................
